Cheeky Emu hats should fit your baby or child comfortably with minimal gaps around the face.

What if my child is in between sizes?

Our size guide lists a head circumference range for each size so your child may be able to fit two sizes depending if you prefer a slightly loose or snug fit.

How do a measure my child's head?

Use a measuring tape to measure your child's head (around the forehead). You can also use a piece of string or ribbon to measure their head, then lie it flat and measure with a ruler.

Do you make adult sizes?

Yes! Well kind of 😋 Our LARGE (4+ years) size should fit most older kids as well as adults with a small-medium head size (up to 57.5cm or 22½").

Are your hats unisex?

Yes! Our hats fit babies and kids of all genders in a range of unisex colours. 


Can I wash my hat?

Yes, we recommend a cold hand wash then dry flat in the shade. A low iron is ok. Please do not tumble try, bleach or dry clean.

What are your hats made of?

Cheeky emu hats are made with 80% cotton and 20% recycled polyester (including the tie clasp.

Where are your hats made?

We're a small business based in Sydney, Australia. Cheeky Emu hats are made in China and have been designed by us in Sydney.


What is your returns policy?

We want you to love your new Cheeky Emu hat, but in case it's not the right fit for your little one we will happily accept returns within 7 days of receiving your order. Product/s must be in new, unworn, unwashed condition with tags attached.

Do you offer free shipping?

We offer free shipping to Australia and New Zealand orders over $60.

How long will it take to receive my order?

We do our best to get your order to you as soon as possible but please allow up to 2 business days for your order to be dispatched.

All AU/NZ orders are shipped from Sydney, Australia via Sendle or Australia Post. Generally post takes 2 business days to cities in NSW, VIC & QLD. But please allow up to 9 business days to reach Australia wide or during peak periods.

Please allow 9-23 business days for orders to New Zealand.

All US orders are processed and shipped directly from our US Amazon warehouse. Please allow 3-4 business days for standard postage.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, all international orders are shipped from Sydney, Australia via Sendle or Australia Post depending on which is faster to your location. 

Shipping is a flat rate of AUD$18.00 for standard postage to most international destinations.

Import Duties and Taxes are not included in postage costs and may be payable to the local customs office upon receipt/pickup of the parcel. It is recommended you confirm the estimated duties and taxes with your local customs office prior to ordering.


Can I change or cancel my order once it has been placed?

In case you need to cancel or change an order, please contact us as soon as possible at Once an order begins processing, it can no longer be adjusted or cancelled.

Please note that refunds for cancelled orders may take up to five business days to reach your account.

I think my hat is damaged. What should I do?

We do our best to ensure our hats are of a high quality and free from defects. However, occasionally mistakes do happen! 

If you believe you have received a defective item, please send a message with a photo of your hat to within 30 days of your hat being delivered. We're happy to help!

As a young family we're committed to creating a better future for our kids and future generations. The Climate Crisis is real and all businesses need to take action to address any unsustainable practices and do better.

We are committed to making environmental change and while we're not perfect these are some of the things Cheeky Emu is doing...


Our hats are made to last! Fast fashion is a problem and we wanted to create a product that could be passed down to siblings and cousins, then given away or kept for future generations.


Our product is made from a mix of cotton (biodegradable) and recycled polyester (material made from recycled plastic bottles).


All items are packaged in biodegradable polybags and shipped using biodegradable or paper mailers.

As a business we take all steps to minimise single use plastics.

Why winter hats?

We're a brand new small business and our winter hats are our first range. They were born out of a need to create a hat that would be both sun safe and warm - a beanie, bomber and legionnaire hat hybrid!

As new parents taking a baby out into the elements we needed a hat that would protect her from the sun but also keep her warm. A beanie just didn’t seem suitable in the Australian sun - so we designed a better hat.

We hope you’ll find our hats as practical as we do, while your kids look super cute at the same time!
